Isaiah 59:3 For your hands are defiled with blood, And your fingers with iniquity; Your lips have spoken lies, Your tongue has muttered perversity.
Expanded Form of Verse
(For your hands are stained (desecrated, soiled) with blood and your fingers with iniquity (guilt) (they hold onto the sin with a clenched fist); your lips have spoken lies (deception, falsehood, disappointment), and your tongue mutters (moans, growls, muse) injustice (unrighteousness)
Summary of Verse
These people are practicing sin and iniquity, and they speak lies incessantly…but yet they claim to care about righteousness to the point of crying out, becoming angry, and irritable for justice to be served. Yet, as God points out, they are unjust and not walking in righteousness. He mentions in His word that they have their fists clenched onto their sins, not willing to let them go. They are, in essence, being stubborn about their sins, refusing to repent, but having no problem pointing out their own injustice. They are hypocrites.
